It’s impossible to put a price tag on the love and support that a mother provides to her children. Yet surprisingly, many of our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters are dramatically under-insured. Seven in ten women agree that life insurance is a necessity and that all people should have it (as compared to 62% for men). In fact, LIMRA estimates that approximately 1/3rd of wives own no life insurance at all – despite the fact that 70% of households are classified as “dual-income”, and nearly 30% of wives earn more than their husbands! Even if a woman is a stay-at-home mom, there is no reason to downplay the need for life insurance. A recent study from Salary.com suggests that a stay-at-home mother works over 94 hours a week, between laundry, housekeeping, cooking, cleaning, transporting children, and a variety of other daily household tasks. Average annual pay for all of this? A whopping $112,962! (2)
The loss of a mother is a traumatic and life-changing event that many of us will have to deal with at some point in our lives. Consider the case of Brittney Lacombe, who unexpectedly lost her mother. Unfortunately, her mother didn’t have any life insurance protection.
As the video illustrates, the need for life insurance cannot be understated. This Mother’s Day, instead of flowers or candy, consider recommending the protection and peace of mind that you can’t get anywhere else.
